I had a meeting with Brady's Early Childhood teacher last week. It went well. We went over the goals we had discussed with him at his IEP in December and I was tickled to discover he is not only meeting most of his goals, but also surpassing them! The best news came at the end of the meeting. We have decided to continue Brady in the preschool environment throughout the summer, to make sure he keeps the progress he has made, rather than regressing in the 3 months he would be out of school. The program is for 6 weeks of the Summer and they pretty much do the stuff they do now to keep the kiddos entertained. He will have the same teacher, and his classmates will all be the same, as well. It's a good thing, too, cause he loves his "Mith Joooooleeee". (Brady has the cutest stinkin' lisp. Makes my heart all a flutter when he tackles those S words!) We also discussed him staying in speech, to help him continue on in his development there. His speech therapist wasn't able to make the meeting, so I agreed, and we signed all of the paperwork that makes sure they get whatever funding they need from the government to keep the program running. I walked out of there feeling great about the whole thing and pretty darn proud of my Bubba.
The next morning, his therapist stopped me as I left the classroom, to sign a new form with some changes made to it. Apparently, Brady has made such strides in his speech development, he won't qualify for continued therapy in the Summer, only during the school year! So, I quickly signed the paper and floated across the parking lot home. Yep, my lil Bubba, who barely said Mama and Daddy 6 months ago is now holding conversations, and saying 2 and 3 word sentences. He is WELL on his way to being caught up with his peers. I have never been happier to have my baby kicked out of a program!
So, in line with that story, I have a little conversation to relay to you all. This afternoon, as I was getting ready for work, Brady was sitting on the counter in the bathroom, watching me put my make up on.
Brady: "Was dis?" (He was holding up my mascara)
Me: "That's for mama's eyes. It makes me pretty."
Brady: "You peeety, mama? Yup, youuu peeeeeety!"
Me: "Thanks, Bubs, you are too."
Brady: "No, Beedy no peety. Me Bubba"
Me: "Are you my Bubba Love?"
Brady: "No. Me honey."
Me: "You're my honey? My Bubba Honey?"
Brady: "No, me Beedy honey."
Me: "Brady Honey? You're my Brady Honey?"
Brady: "Yeah Dude!"
*sigh* I love it!
