"Spring is back!" This was the first thing out of Bryce's mouth this morning when he woke up and came into the kitchen. This was followed by "can we have pancakes for breakfast and eat it outside?" Mind you, he had just been potty and, after the first morning pee, he strips down to his underwear and doesn't get dressed until he has eaten his breakfast, drank his milk and "relaxed on the couch" for a bit. I suggested that he may be a bit cold in his ownies (underwear) outside because, even though the snow has melted and it looks warm, it was really only about 35 degrees which meant he would freeze his booty off out there in clothes, let alone ownies only. He looked confuse for a moment and then asked "of my booty freezes off, where will my poopie go?" At least he thinks about things like this!
After breakfast inside, we got dressed and ready for the day quickly and the boys were champs in helping me do a quick pick up of the house before Brady's speech therapist arrived. Brady did awesome in his session today. His therapist told me he is realizing the power his words have and is "exploding" in vocabulary. He has some new words: nana (for banana), Bryce (he was just saying DC, now he says Bryce quite clearly), more bubbles pop (a 3 word sentence!!!), Diego (the cartoon character), and juice. He is doing awesome, but we have been working pretty hard with him, so it was nice to have an affirmation that we are doing something right, since most days I feel like I really don't know what I am doing.
After Andi left, we had some lunch and a quick nap. We then drove into town to get some fish medicine for Spongebob (I am trying like hell to prevent his fate turning out as Dorothy's did, but he is not doing well, so keep him in your prayers. I just can't go through another fish funeral like the last one! Bryce is still struggling with Dorothy's death. If Spongebob goes, there WILL be a new and healthy Spongebob in the tank before he realizes it). I picked up my new lamps from Slumberland and then took the boys for dinner at Culver's since they were, in Bryce's words, "so hungry, I could eat my arm". I have really been trying to stay away from fast food for them and we have been doing pretty good the past couple of weeks. But, Slumberland and Home Depot are right next door and Culvers is in the parking lot. I knew I needed to run into Home Depot for paint (I am trying to surprise Travis with some stuff getting done in the house while he is away. But, shhhhhh!) and other supplies. Brady had been kind of whiny in Slumberland and, after Bryce's comment, I realized it was 530 and they WERE probably hungry. I figured, if I had any chance in hell of getting through Home Depot without "accidentally" losing a kid in there due to behavior issues, I had better feed them first. They ate like lil piggies and off to Home Depot we went. I got the paint and supplies I needed. Of course, Travis and I finally agreed on a tile we liked, and I was going to get that, as well and, wouldn't you know it? They don't have any! I am sincerely hoping they are just temporarily out of stock! So, the floors won't get done, but the painting will (and the curtains for the slider doors, too!).
When we got home, my little oinkers were still hungry, so they had a bowl of cereal, a tubby, and are now tucked into bed. I haven't heard much from them, since I threatened there would be no playgroup tomorrow if I had to chase them all night to stay in bed. Let's hope it worked!
