We spent this past week enjoying the backyard and the deliciously warm weather. The kids are loving being able to sort through their short outfits and choosing which one to wear each morning. Well, Bryce is. Brady has been having some trouble adjusting to the fact that the weather is actually nice here. He insists on wearing sweatshirts and jeans every morning. Every morning, I have to explain that it is 80 degrees outside and he will die of heat stroke if he tries running around like the banshee he thinks is in that get up. So, we have a little war, and I usually concede with a t-shirt and the jeans. He is happy and content. . . Until we actually get outside. Then, he sees the swimming pool and wants to dive right in. A feat not so easily managed with his cumbersome jeans on. The jeans, miraculously, come off, and he is happy as a duck in, well, water, wearing nothing but a t-shirt and diaper. Come lunch time, he is more than agreeable to put a pair of shorts on. Of course, this is NOT helping my laundry pile any. Ah well, the joys of arguing with a 2 year old. Ya win some, ya lose some.
Speaking of laundry, this weather is certainly helping the electric bill! I was so excited, when we moved here, to find a HUGE clothes line stored in the garage. After a short hunting trip through the yard, I found the hole in concrete that the pole belongs in. Every morning, my routine now includes a short jaunt to the laundry room to pull the clothes from the night before out of the washer and then off to the yard I go to hang them out on the line. I love line dried clothes! Not only do they smell so fresh and clean, but, it means I get an extra day out of having to fold and put them away! Although, I could pull them in earlier, since the wind never stops blowing, and the sun is so warm, they are absolutely dry within a few hours, that would mean I WOULD have to fold and put them away. I think they need some extra time outside, just for some extra freshness.
