HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

I think I had the most perfect day a girl could ask for today. It started quite early this morning when I tried to roll over from my back to my side, in bed, only to be met with the sweet smell of baby lotion and the soft caress of hair. As I gazed down at Brady, sound asleep and drooling a bit, my breath was taken away at how beautiful this little man is and how lucky I am to have him in my life, no matter how crazy he makes me some days. He resisted my attempts to snuggle with him by arching his back, rolling side ways and sticking his butt up in the air. Not getting comfortable that way, I rolled to my other side and was surprised to realize I was surrounded by boy. Again, I gasped to catch my breath as I gathered in all of the beauty of my oldest son, also sound asleep and snoring slightly. Again, I thanked God for giving me these 2 perfect creatures to raise and enjoy throughout their lives. I really am blessed! Bryce, of course, was more than happy to settle right into my arms and smiled sweetly and sleepily as I kissed his forehead. I drifted in and out fo consciousness until about 8, when Brady started poking my head. "num num? uhhhhh HUH! num, num!" In Brady-ese, this means "Get your butt out of bed, mom, I am hungry and you need to feed me". I turned to look at him and was met with the biggest grin ever. "Are you hungry?" I asked. "Uhhhhh HUH!" he replied, nodding. At this point, Trav sat up and told me to lay back down, he would get up with the boys and feed them, I could sleep in. I love that mean of mine!
Taking direction well, I rolled over and fell back to sleep and slept a gooooood looooooong time. It was fabulous! I haven't slept so late since before I was pregnant with Bryce. Travis had taken the boys into town (the real reason I was able to sleep so peacefully) and they still weren't home when I got up. I was surprised by a full pot of Starbuck's coffee, chocolate chip muffins, a fresh newspaper, a photography magazine, the New Mary J. Blige CD, and my favorite chocolate bar. I was in heaven! I put my new CD in, drank my coffee and ate my muffins and was just starting to get into the paper when the boys arrived home. After opening my cards and transferring my purse (my big presents from my guys were a new Coach purse and a matching wallet. I am in love!), I got dressed and put my face on. We went out for a late lunch/early dinner (what is that called? Lunner? Dunch? Whatever it's called, I ate it.) at Johnny Carrino's. It was divine. Afterwards, we stopped at Sears and then headed for home. Since it was still early (around 530), we walked the boys to the park behind the school and let them burn off some energy. They played hard and then . . . they found the biggest mud puddle ever. And they played harder. They were having so much fun running through the water and throwing mud at each other, and I was having so much fun capturing their delight on camera, we just let them have at it. Of course, they were filthy and soaked to the bone when they were done, but they had a blast. Good thing we only live on the other side of the school, or it would have been a tough walk home for them! When we got home, they went straight to the tub (after I made them strip off their soaking muddy clothes on the deck. Oh, the degradation they must live through for the sake of a clean house and a sane mother!) where they soaked and played for another half an hour. They were pretty tired after all of that, so off to bed they went and stayed. All in all, this was the absolute bestest Mother's Day of them all and I hope each and every one of you mommies reading this had a day as great as mine was!
