The first conversation

As many of you know, Brady has some pretty severe speech delays. He has other delays, as well, but his speech is the big one the professionals are focusing on right now. He has had a speech therapist coming to the house since March and she is wonderful. This morning proved to me just how wonderful she is.

I had my first conversation with Brady. Something I thought would never happen, happened. And it rocked.

I was sitting at the table this morning, trying to wake up with a cup of coffee while staring out into my backyard in a rather catatonic state when I heard the familiar morning shuffle. As I turned, I had to smile at the little imp grinning up at me, sleep still fogging his face, hair standing straight up in an Alflafa-like nod, and breath that would knock out the most heaviest of weights.

Me: "Good morning, Bubba!"

Brady: "UP!"

Me: "Yep, you are up. Did you have a good night night?"

Brady: "Uh HUH! Num num?"

Me: "Are you hungry?"

Brady: "Uh HUH! fuh fus"

Me: "Breakfast? What would you like for breakfast? Oatmeal?"

Brady: "nooooooo! ffl ffls"

Me: "Waffles?"

Brady: "UH HUH!"

Me: Ok, you get the waffles, mama will get the toaster."

Brady: "Dink. dooooooooooose"

Me: "You want juice, too?"

Brady: "Yip."

Most of you will never. ever. know. how awesome this is. Never. Ever.
