Thanksgiving . . . and stuff

I know I am late, but I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We spent the day at home, just the 4 of us and it was fabulous! This was the first Thanksgiving we have ever done alone. The first one I ever got to cook all by myself! Usually, we were travelling the roads of Montana, dodging deer and snow storms, to spend time with family and gorge ourselves stupid on turkey and pie. Not this year. Nope, we stayed home. It was awesome, especially after the past few crazy busy months we have had. I am so glad we decided to stay home.

We spent most of the day in our jammies. At 1:00, we all got dressed and drove over to the grocery store to rent movies, and buy wine and ice cream for dinner and dessert. We were also on a mission to buy a paper with the Friday ads in it. After 2 gas stations and a few random newspaper stand checks, we found the jackpot. I could barely contain my excitement. Black Friday ads are better than Christmas for me. Travis just rolls his eyes and drives around so I can find the paper. He doesn't do busy and he DEFINITELY doesn't do crowds.

Once we got home, we set up the dining room table as Black Friday Central, grabbed the kids, the spinach dip, and checked out the sales. I do believe I am grooming my boys to be awesome husbands. They were as stoked at the sales as I was, eager to jump into line and race for the deals as soon as I gave the word. (Ok, they loved all of the toys on display and couldn't wait to tell me which one on each page they "needed" to add to their Christmas lists. But there will be a year when I have 2 little helpers with me, waiting in line while I get to shop. Cause let's face it folks, the waiting in line is pretty much the sucky part of Black Friday.) After gorging ourselves on spinach dip, bread, and cheesy bacon dip and crackers, we headed downstairs to check out Wall-E. Cute movie. Kids passed right out in the middle of it, and Trav and I were not far behind them. We woke up to the most delicious smells of turkey filling the house. While the boys played in their playroom, I went up and finished making dinner. After I put my comfy pants on to ready myself for more gorging. Dinner was divine. Delicious. Perfect. If I do say so, myself.

Before dinner, I had each one of us say what we are thankful for. Brady was too busy shoving handfuls of mashed potatoes, straight from the bowl, into his mouth, to respond. I am pretty sure he is thankful for food, in general. Trav and I got all sappy on each other and named the boys, each other, and a few other nicey nicey things. And then, there was Bryce's list.

Me: "Bryce, what are YOU thankful for?"

Bryce: "Punkins. And turkey. . . . . . . . and wheelchairs."

Me: *looking over at Travis to see he has collapsed into a fit of silent laughter, while trying to contain my own giggles* "Ummm, did you say wheelchairs?"

Bryce: *giving his dad a drop dead stare* "Yeah, you know, the chairs that have da wheels? So people can push me around when I'm old. I am thankful for those. Cause old people need em, and I will when I'm old."

Travis has now crawled UNDER the table to try to control himself.

Me: "huh, wheelchairs. Who knew 4 year olds would be thankful for that?"

Travis's laugh was NOT so quiet then.
