I am thinking school must be gonna start soon. Either that or the President of the United States better show up soon. All week, starting bright and early at 8 AM and lasting until well into nap time, all I have heard are drums, cymbals, and whistle blows.
Yeah, the marching band is practicing.
Although they are doing it in the football field on the other side of the school (which is, seriously RIGHT behind my house), it feels and sounds like they are in my living room. Normally, I would be ok with a little practice. After all, it makes perfect (how do ya'll think I got to be where I am? hehe). And, I am all for furthering one's education through the arts. However, I had a major headache yesterday and the drums seem a bit louder inside your head, when it is already pounding. Today, it was just plain irritating.
Irritating enough that I am seriously considering marching myself over to the football field and running a rope across it and then hiding out in the bleachers just to amuse myself as I watch their little uniformed parade slowly (well, ok, it will be slow motion in my head) fall, one by one, until each and ever instrument is finally SILENT. Just for a few hours, until they can regroup and start over. And my kids can get a nap.
The no napping thing is really what is most irritating about the whole band/music/hammers in my head thing. The hammers get louder the longer I have to fight with the boys to lay down.
Tomorrow, at 4 PM, when practice ends, I am sending my children home with the marching band. Perhaps spending an evening with two super crabby kids who have not napped will make them think about a desolate place in the country for their practice.
