Ok, so I am a day late, not at all unusual. I am late for everything. My excuse? My mother went overdue with me while pregnant. I couldn't even be born on time, what makes you think I can change for anything else?
Yesterday was my anniversary. Trav and I have now been married for 7 years. Seems weird to think it has been that long, though the number seems so small to me. 7 years ago, I could have never imagined how awesome of a life we now have (not that I was thinking it was going t be all doom and gloom mind you. I am one of those types of people that ponders the universe, the meaning of life, and all that. And yea, where am I going to be in this year or that crosses my mind often.)
Anyway, the day was like any other. Trav had to work, so it was the boys and I all day. I spent the morning catching up on housework, since we used the weekend for yard work. Brady's speech therapist came a bit early, and then the boys and I headed to the park. I was still ticked at the pool (I'll blog about that another time), so I told the boys it was closed. We spent a few hours at the park and came home. I didn't really want to nap them, because I knew we were getting a sitter so we could go to dinner, and I didn't want her to have to do a whole lot of work. Well, and it IS our anniversary, so they NEEDED to be asleep when we came home. A girl has needs, ya know? Anniversaries are a great time to get those fulfilled.
My toes have never looked better, by the way. (What were YOU thinking??). He not only massaged my feet, but he painted my toenails, too. Eat your heart out, girls!
So, the boys played in the play room while I worked in my office on my Avon stuff.
Correction.
The boys DESTROYED the basement while I was in my office.
It took them 4 hours to clean it all up. There were toys EVERYWHERE! And, this is after a few weeks of refusing to clean up the toys and losing 2 black garbage bags full (they are secretly hidden in the garage, but Bryce thinks they went to the poor kids). It took them 4 hours because they had to argue about every friggen toy I told them to put away.
It was still not picked up by the time Trav got home. Apparently, Daddy's voice sounds meaner. They got it picked up while I was getting ready for my date. No kidding! After 4 hours of fighting them, he gets it done in half an hour. Shitheads.
So, we went on our date. It was ok. We went to Granite City. A friend "highly" recommended it. It was, basically, an over priced Applebee's. But, it was free. We used the gift card we won at his Christmas party. Since Christmas parties are the only time we have really been out without the kids since Bryce was born, it was odd at first. Of course, as I opened the menu, my eyes went immediately to the kid's part before I realized there were no kids to order for. And, there was no one to tell "Sit down and eat." "We don't climb on tables" or "For God's Sake, get off of the floor, sit in your chair, and EAT!".
Afterwards, he drove me to the Falls to watch the light show (this was a surprise and actually quite romantic on his part.) As we sat, we got to listen to the history of Lewis and Clark . . . twice. Apparently, they felt the story bore repeating. And I really do mean BORE! Then, the laser show began. We thought it was going to be Pink Floyd-esq show off of the falls. Rather, it was a cartoonish play shown on the side of one of the buildings with odd voices for the characters that had Trav and I rolling with gut wrenching giggles while we made fun of the show. We could only take so much of the grunting and moaning from the loudspeaker above us before we left early and headed home. There was business to attend to there, anyway. (Remember, I needed my toes done!)
So, yeah, it was a nice anniversary. After almost 13 years together, I do love that man of mine!
