Yay! It's 2009! We hope you all had an awesome Holiday season!
Trav has been off for the past 2 weeks and it has been so nice to have him home! We had a very relaxing Christmas, with just the 4 of us. The boys, of course, were spoiled rotten by Santa, but this year made it even more exciting for me, so I think I may have over shopped. They have finally "gotten" what Santa and Christmas is about. Their excitement was as addicting as it was magical. Bryce, thanks to his pre-school, is also understanding the concept that Christmas isn't just about getting toys and Santa, but also about the birth of Jesus and the wonderful feelings GIVING gives you. Because I want to instill in my boys a basic religious concept (though allow them to make their own choices in regards to any type of organized religion later on in life), we focused a lot on biblical Christmas stories and Jesus's birthday this season. We have also started a new tradition. Rather than a typical cherry pie for dessert, after dinner on Christmas day, I had made a birthday cake for Jesus, and we celebrated a small birthday party. It was fun, and the boys enjoyed singing Happy Birthday and playing a few party games.
New Year's was also small and relaxed. We attended a get together with some friends at their house and then left just before midnight to hear over to Great Bear to watch the fireworks display. It was very cool and I got some neat shots with my camera.
Speaking of birthdays, my baby will be 3 on Sunday. I am slowly coming to grips with him growing up, but it is hard. I can't believe this year, I will have a 3 and a 5 year old! Time needs to slow down! Today is his last day with his speech therapist at our house and, next week, he will start pre-school through the school system, and receive his therapy there. THAT is going to be rough. Sending my baby on to the bog school, when I am not even ready to send my oldest baby there. But, it will be good for him. He is doing so well with his speech, coming up with new words every day. Last night, for the first time, he actually responded with a "night, night, Mama. daduh" (in brady-ese, that means good night, I love you) when I kissed him good night and tucked him in. It brought tears to my eyes, he is doing so good!
So, all in all, we had a great holiday season. It was nice to slow down and relax for a bit. Now, it is time to get busy again. I have a ton of resolutions written down, and I am determined NOT to be one of the 3% or whatever figure that is, of people who break them within weeks of committing to them. SO, with that, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I wish you all lots of love, lots of luck, and lots of moula!
MWAH! love ya!
You are such an awesome MOM. I love your heart.
