busy week

I know, I know, I TRY to make this a daily blog. But, sometimes, life happens. So, here is an update on us.

The week started out busy and finished rather busy, as well. On Monday, I had a meeting with the Early Childhood Team regarding the results for Brady's early intervention screenings. Turns out, the boy is a genius when it comes to motor skills (I had kind of thought so, but the validation was nice). He excels at gross motor skills most, but his fine motor skills rank up there with 4 year olds. I think having a four year old brother to compete with helps. His speech, however, is significantly impaired, so he starts speech therapy next week. The nice thing is that the therapist will come to my house for the therapy, rather than me having to drag both boys out of the house and then try to wrangle both of them in an unfamiliar setting. It will be super nice, because I can have Bryce in a different part of the house while Brady gets his therapy, so that he won't have to compete with Mr. 200 Questions a minute.

I have also started taking the boys to a playgroup in Sioux Falls. Each of the community centers has an indoor play area on different days of the week, throughout the winter months, for stay at home moms. It has been a really great place for the boys to run off some of their over abundance of energy, and it has been a great place for me to meet other moms in the area. I have found a great gal that hangs out with me during the playtime. (I think I found a new friend! YAY! lol). We go on Tuesdays and Fridays. Wednesdays is house cleaning/yard pick up day, and Thursdays are our days at the park now. Well, we WERE going to the park, under some stupid illusion that Spring may actually be showing her beautiful face. However, Winter showed us this week he is not done with us and blew in 4 more inches of snow and more subzero temperatures. *sigh* Here's hoping Spring can kick his ass in the next couple of weeks.

Since
it was snowing and blowing like crazy Wednesday and Thursday this week, we stayed inside and had LOTS of fun. From pirate "fights" to treasure hunts, building forts, cam pouts and picnics, finger painting, watercolors, "a day at the indoor pool" aka bathtub in swim trunks, and hide n go seek, I pretty much wore them out those days. It was nice, because they took great naps for me and then went to bed at decent hours. Travis was in Montana all week for work, so it got pretty lonely in the evenings, but I made do by rearranging and gutting the computer room. This room has been my nemesis since moving in. I pretty much became my "I don't know what to do with this, so I will put it in here" room. I could just close the door and forget about it, kind of. My brain knew it was there, and it drove me insane to see all of the clutter. So, I attacked it with a vengeance. Now, I just have to finish up all of the filing in my handy dandy new filing cabinet and the room is going to be awesome!
Today, I had my third interview with Target. I was offered the job after about 5 minutes of chatting and, of course, accepted the job offer. It is going to be nice to get out of the house for a couple of nights a week and have some adult interaction. I am also chatting with my new friend, who also sells Avon. Apparently, there is not an Avon representative in Brandon. Well, there is going to be, soon! I thought it would be a fun way this summer for the boys and I to get some walking in. We can walk through the neighborhoods and hand out books, meet more of the people here, and maybe make some connections for future play dates!! I still have a couple more things to do, but, with everything on the Internet these days, if you have any future Avon needs, I would be more than happy to help you! hehe.

Well, that's how our week has shaped up, so far. See?? I told you we were busy! We are planning on driving to Omaha tomorrow to look at furniture for my guest room and I need to find some clothes for my new job. (I used to have a TON of khaki pants. I have no idea where in the move they went to! And I never was one for red shirts, so must go shopping!)

I promise to try and update this more often. Please bear with me, my dear fans, life as a mom is a lot more busy than I had predicted!!

  1. WOW! I'm tired just reading your comments. Welcome to Motherhood. Isn't it great. Now you know how great I feel being a Grandmother and a Great Grandmother. You are so great in communicating and I thank you so much, Glad that you have gotten help for Brady. He is such a sweetheart and the therapy will work in time. Kendra did the same thing with "Bubba". He has so much street smarts, but just has
a problem with the academic side. He has a tutor for all of school subjects just to keep up and he is 10 now. Please keep it up. I love you. Grandma
