We had an awesome fun day, today! We started out a bit slow, since Travis was at his other job finishing the floors in a restaurant (a side job he has picked up to help him fund his never ending desire to own at least one year of every make and model vehicle that has existed since 1970.) So, the boys and I caught up a bit on laundry, cleaned up the basement, and I scrubbed the kitchen floors (yes, a housewife's work is never done. So, if this is a line of work you are looking into, you may want to reconsider. It takes a strong woman to clean floors on her hands and knees with a toddler and a four year old thinking she is down there for their entertainment!). After the chores were done, I figured I needed to stop the boisterous "I am HUNGRY!" from the 4 year old and "NUM NUM!" form the 2 year old. So, we had some lunch (with mild, though serious, threats of adoption muttered under my breath if they even THOUGHT about ruining my beautiful floors).
After lunch, I decided it was just too dang hot outside to sit under the sweltering sun and watch the kids run all over a playground, so we decided to head to the pool. By the time I got everyone ready and the stupid patch sewn onto my suit (for the membership I bought the other day. MUCH cheaper than paying per time, but they have they think that everyone is gifted int eh sewing department and is able to sew a patch on to a swimsuit. Stupid rule, if you ask me!), Travis arrived just in time to throw on a pair of swim trunks, grab a towel and chauffeur us to our destination. The boys had a blast, especially in the big pool with daddy. Why is it that men are more fun in a pool? Is it because they don't have the ever increasing fear seeing their little ones heads slip under water as they are tossed from one end of the pool to the other? I'll never get it. But, none the less, they had fun, and that is what counts! Of course, we ended up being there all afternoon, foregoing any type of nap at all, so they were pretty dang tired by the time we packed up and headed out. And, that ever incessant "I'm hungry!" and "NUM NUM!" began irritating my ears again. So, off to dinner we went. We love Culver's. I can't say enough about them. The place freaking ROCKS! The kids love it, too, so that's where we headed.
On the way home, we caught the beginning of the hot air balloon race. It was pretty cool to watch about 50 balloons take off and float above our heads. Of course, I didn't have my camera with me, so I was a little bummed, but Trav hooked me right up by taking us home so I could grab it. By this time, the balloons had made it to Brandon, so we headed to the park and I got some great shots of it. I even climbed the humongous tower they have, over looking the city, to get even better shots. Travis attempted it, but, his fear of heights, the fact that the tower swayed int eh wind, and the kids climbing on the rails, sent him squealing back down those steps faster than if there had been a mouse up there.
After my photo shoot, we took the boys to the playground and proceeded to literally run them into the ground. They were tripping over themselves in exhaustion by the time we headed back to the truck. I got absolutely no arguments over bed time tonight!
