This weekend, we went to Culver's for dinner. Saturdays are the shopping, various errands and otherwise bum around town days. Afterwards, we eat dinner out. Typically, this is my one night off from the kitchen, but, moreoften than I prefer, it is usually the second or third night. We are working on that.
Anyway, as I said, we went to Culver's this past Saturday. Bryce's pick. Since he was being somewhat of a crabby butt, we went with it. Since moving here, we have really been talking to Bryce about stanger danger. With it being so much of a bigger city, we want him to be aware of strangers and what to do if he ever gets lost. The concept that not everyone is a nice person is confusing to him (and it is sad for me to have to explain it to him.) As we were eating dinner, Bryce asked why he could not go with strangers. I explained that strangers are not always nice people. He asked why, so I explained that sometimes strangers can do bad things to little kids and could take him away from mommy and daddy, and we may never see him again. I tried to tell him how sad we would be if anything ever happened to him and if we were never able to see his cute face again. Bryce thought on this a moment and then asks, "well, can we give Brady to strangers?" Hmmm, maybe he understands, after all. Of course, we told him no, because never seeing Brady again would be sad, too.
After dinner, we went to Shopko and got some cabinets for the playroom to help store and hide the plethora of toys that are overtaking the playroom. Now that we have the playroom in the family room, I do want it to look somewhat nice, and having toys piled up in our hodgepodge containers was driving the OCD in me crazy. Now that the cabinets are put together, we are going to spend the day sorting and organizing toys. I am hoping that this afternoon warms up enough to go play outside. This stinking wind has our windchill temperatures at 20 below zero and my poor kiddos are desparate to run off some energy. However, when shopping yesterday, they were in tears from the wind, so I don't think we will be going out today if it is anywhere near what it was like yesterday.
Speaking of shopping, I finally found some curtains for the living room. I put them up last night and they look pretty nice. However, of course, I didn't buy enough, so I have to go back this week, while they are still on sale, and get some more. At least it will get us out of the house again.
Oh! And I do try to proofread my posts before posting them. The spellcheck on the blog program isn't working, so please pardon the occasional typo.
